Portable monitors

A second screen that travels. 15.6 inches of Full HD IPS, matte, and driven down a single USB-C cable.

The line is a portable monitor rather than a desktop panel. 15.6 inches (39.62 cm), 1920 × 1080 on an IPS panel with a matte finish, 60 Hz, built-in speakers, and a folding cover that doubles as the stand. Two USB-C ports and one HDMI input mean it takes video and power down a single cable from a laptop that can supply both, and splits them across two when the laptop cannot.

How it is run

The brief starts with how a panel behaves after an hour on a desk it was not designed for, not how it looks in a showroom. Colour is checked against reference rather than a spec sheet, and the unit has to run from one cable on a laptop that can supply it.

  • Brief — Panel class, colour target and the port set are fixed before a supplier is approached.
  • Specification — Backlight, matte coating, cover-stand geometry and the USB-C power budget are written into the order, not left to the factory.
  • Quality control — Units are sampled on colour, on dead-pixel policy, and on whether one cable really drives the panel from a laptop.

Concept · runs with HOB AI

A second screen that knows which machine it is on.

Every line is drawn around the same assistant. It is asked for out loud, it resolves what it can on the device in front of you, and it answers with the thing rather than a conversation about the thing.

HW·01 · concept, not a photograph Ask · Understand · Act
  • Ask — Speak to the panel. Mode, brightness and input without walking a two-button menu on the edge.
  • Understand — What it is plugged into, and what is already on the other screen, is read on the panel itself.
  • Act — Duplicate, extend or second screen is chosen, and the panel keeps that choice for that machine.

A concept drawing, not a shipping specification. The assistant is HOB AI and the device it was written for is HB·001.
