HOB Harry O. Bear

Hardware under our own mark. Software built to sit beside it.

HOB is an independent house in Tamil Nadu working across three divisions: own-brand consumer electronics, software built to enrich rather than to occupy, and the ventures that carry their own name.

The house

Three divisions, one standard.

Most consumer brands do one of two things. They put their name on hardware, or they write software. HOB does both, because the two keep improving each other. A charger teaches you something about how people actually live with a desk. A streaming platform teaches you something about what a screen has to do.

The hardware side is white label. We select and specify products, take them through quality control, and bring them to market under the HOB mark. The software side is built in house and made to enrich: each product should leave the person using it with something they did not have before, rather than simply holding their attention.

Alongside both sit the ventures, brands that carry their own name because teaching, literature and comics each need their own catalogue and their own audience.

HOB is an independent venture, wholly separate from any other company its founder is involved with.

Portable monitors

A second screen that travels. 15.6 inches of Full HD IPS with a matte finish, built-in speakers and a folding cover that doubles as the stand. Two USB-C ports and one HDMI input, so it takes video and power down a single cable from a laptop that can supply both.

Audio

Personal listening and desk audio. Tuning is checked against reference material rather than a spec sheet. Fit and case behaviour carry as much weight as driver size, since a set of earbuds that sits badly never gets worn.

Power and charging

Bricks, banks, cables and desk hubs. The category where cutting corners shows up fastest, so it gets the strictest intake. Cells, protection circuitry and cable strain relief are checked on every batch, not sampled once at onboarding.

Wearables

Worn devices and their bands. Held back until sensor accuracy and battery claims can be stated honestly. A wearable that overstates what it measures damages the mark more than a delayed launch does.

Storage

How we work

A

Selection over volume

A line stays small until every product in it earns its place. We would rather ship four things people keep than forty that get returned.

B

Claims we can stand behind

Stated capacity, wattage and runtime are checked against samples before packaging is signed off. Nothing goes on a box that we have not seen ourselves.

C

Built to be repaired and replaced

Warranty handling and spares are decided at specification stage, not after the first batch of complaints.

Bringing a line to market

From brief to shelf.

The same five stages run for every category. Timelines and commercial terms are discussed under enquiry.

Brief

The gap is defined first: who the product is for, what it has to do better than what they already own, and what it must not compromise.

Selection

Candidate products are shortlisted and evaluated against the brief. Anything that only wins on price is dropped here.

Specification

Materials, tolerances, packaging and warranty terms are fixed in writing before tooling or branding begins.

Quality control

Samples are tested against the specification, then batches are checked on the same criteria rather than a lighter version of them.

Market

Branding, packaging, listing and support are prepared together, so the product arrives with everything it needs to be sold and serviced.

Manufacturing, distribution or platform partnerships.

Tell us which side you are approaching from and we will send the relevant material. Line cards and specification sheets are shared on request.
